Evaluation of a novel mid-infrared pyrometer for dynamic material experiments
At the end of 2022 scientific group from the Nevada National Security Site, USA and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, USA published in Review of Scientific Instruments (AIP Publishing) an article where they describe Mid-IR pyrometer system 2.5-5.0 μm using VIGO detector.
Such complicated measurements as, low temperature (T < 1200K) dynamic material experiments, including low pressure or quasi-isentropic studies, as well as experiments with complex thermodynamic paths, require mid-infrared detectors for high fidelity measurements. Described pyrometer system used PVI-4TE-5-1×1 VIGO detector. Scientists write that signal-to-noise measurements suggest that near the tested region of 3.2-3.6 μm, chosen to be in the middle of the system’s response range, the measurement floor may be around 450 K.
This article shows the application of detectors for temperature measurements.
