Marcin Szrom appointed to the Company’s Management Board as Chief Operating Officer (COO)

On November 18, Marcin Szrom was appointed by the Supervisory Board of VIGO Photonics S.A. to the Company’s Management Board as Chief Operating Officer (COO). Marcin Szrom has extensive international experience, including in the semiconductor and automotive sectors.  The new board member’s tasks will include supporting the company in improving its operations, increasing the efficiency of its production processes, supply chain management, as well as developing VIGO Photonics as a global organisation.

Marcin Szrom has gained experience in multinational corporations. His professional career includes working in the semiconductor industry at Texas Instruments in the USA from 2000 to 2012. Between 2012 and 2022, he continued his career in the automotive industry. For several years, he served as Global Director for Advanced Manufacturing Engineering at Kongsberg Automotive, then worked as General Manager at the German company Saargummi. And in the last four years, he held the position of Industrial Engineering Director at VOSS Automotive. He graduated from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Automatics, Computer Science and Electronics at the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków and completed postgraduate Executive MBA studies at Texas State University in Dallas, USA.

I join the VIGO Photonics team at an interesting time – the company has very good growth prospects and should be clearly increasing its global market share in the near term.  It is therefore an interesting challenge to prepare the company in an operational context for further growth. My professional experience includes working in the semiconductor industry in the USA as well as in the automotive industry. I believe that I will be able to support the company in terms of global expansion, says Marcin Szrom, newly appointed board member and COO of VIGO Photonics.

n my work, I emphasise strategic planning, cost reduction, root cause problem solving and building well-functioning, effective teams of professionals. Challenges for the coming months include ensuring high plant utilisation and maximising production capacity. It will also be important to use the long-standing experience of the company’s employees for further rapid development of technology, increasing efficiency and fast implementation of new products into production, adds Marcin Szrom.

Marcin’s joining the management board is a significant strengthening for VIGO, especially at a time of our further plans for significant growth in the global market. We are convinced that his professional experience covering, among other areas, semiconductors and the automotive sector, will allow us to accelerate VIGO’s growth path, on the one hand by even better utilising market opportunities and developing our product base, and on the other hand by further optimising our production processes, says Adam Piotrowski, CEO of VIGO Photonics.

VIGO Photonics S.A. (WSE: VGO) is a global manufacturer of high-technology solutions – the most advanced mid-infrared photonic detectors, modules dedicated for them and semiconductor materials. Innovative devices have been recognised and used by numerous international customers from the industrial and transportation segments as well as the environmental protection, medical, defence and security sectors.

In 2021, VIGO presented a new, two-stage development strategy for 2021-2026, in which six development initiatives or technological areas were singled out in order to strengthen the Company’s position as one of the most innovative and dynamically developing companies on the market. By 2023, the Company’s objective will be to continue the R&D projects initiated in the field of photonic technologies, integrated circuits, detectors made of III-V materials, epitaxy of semiconductor materials and infrared source technologies. The technological and technical base will also be enhanced.
