On 21st November 2019, VIGO Photonics signed a grant agreement for the implementation of the research project called “The technology of the production of innovative epitaxial structures and VCSEL laser devices” within the framework of “Pathway for Mazovia” programme.VIGO Photonics is the leader of the consortium. Other members include Warsaw University of Technology and Lodz University of Technology. The project’s total eligible costs are PLN 16,302,135.5. Funding amounts to PLN 12,398,365.18, which accounts for 76.05% of the total eligible costs. VIGO Photonics’s eligible costs are PLN 13,014,525.55, and funding for the company is PLN 9,110,755.18.

The aim of the project is the development of new MOCVD solutions for the epitaxy of III-As and III-P vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSEL) and quantum cascade laser (QCL). The epiwafers will be used for the design of the technology of the production of new and improved lasers and VCSELs arrays. One of innovative solutions is forming subwavelength gratings on laser’s emitting surface which will enhance lasers’ output spectral characteristics. VIGO Photonics will also create the technology of the production of single mode VCESLs (to be applied in advanced telecom applications) with optimized structure characterized by high power output and reliability.

On 03.12.2019 VIGO Photonics S.A. signed an agreement for co-funding the research project MAZOWSZE/0090/19-00 entitled: “Sensors for Industry 4.0 and IoT” (“Ścieżka dla Mazowsza” competition).

VIGO Photonics S.A. is the leader of the consortium, which also includes the Military University of Warsaw. The total amount of eligible costs of the Project is PLN 20 645 225.82, and the amount of co-financing is PLN 14 568 592.02, which is 70.57% of the total costs eligible for support. Eligible costs of VIGO are – PLN 18 357 183.48, and the co-financing for VIGO – PLN 12 280 549.68.

The main goal of the project is to develop sensors for Industry 4.0 and the Internet of Things. New sensor families will be developed and put into production:

– detection modules with multi-element infrared detectors used mainly for monitoring industrial processes, they will allow for quick and accurate measurement of parameters and their remote or direct reading;

– miniature infrared detecting modules providing user-friendliness, high availability by minimizing the price, and having a mass application in all sensor network systems.

The 4.0 Industry concept is becoming a reality in which people, machines and processes are increasingly integrated with each other, making production more flexible and efficient. Industry 4.0 is an intelligent production line, and one of the most important dimensions of Industry 4.0 is an intelligent product. The Internet of Things is a concept inextricably linked with Industry 4.0, a concept according to which clearly identifiable.
