VIGO Photonics is developing its own mid-IR light sources engineered for PIC technology. Creating an integrated value for our customers has been the cornerstone of VIGO Photonics’ business strategy.

VIGO Photonics is actively driving intensive R&D initiatives in the field of Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs), laying the groundwork for their future large-scale manufacturing. The core of these advanced systems relies on detectors and complementary light sources. While the company has been perfecting its detection expertise for nearly four decades, it has now taken a major leap forward.

VIGO engineers have successfully developed mid-infrared (Mid-IR) QCL lasers. This milestone marks a strategic turning point in the company’s expansion within the global high-tech market and establishes another critical pillar in building the capabilities required for advanced PIC commercialization.

By developing both light sources and detectors in-house, VIGO is in full control of the optimization of PIC architecture on all levels. This complete operational autonomy over the manufacturing of critical components will directly translate into higher performance, enhanced stability, and faster processing speeds for future application-specific solutions.

Launching in-house production of these emitting components establishes a unique technological foundation that is poised to define a new standard in the microphotonics industry in the coming years. Overcoming scalability challenges will help accelerate the integration of PICs into a broad range of applications, from industrial sensing to everyday consumer technologies.
