On February 28, 2020 VIGO Photonics S.A. signed a co-funding agreement for the research project RPMA.01.02.00-14-b451/18-00 entitled: “Multi-element infrared detectors for multi-functional non-contact diagnostics” co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (RPO WM).

The project is realized in cooperation with the Military University of Technology. Overall budget of the Project is PLN 5,448,222.72, including eligible costs of PLN 5,296,569.00, and the  grant amount of PLN 3,644,130.75, which is 63.82% of the total costs eligible for support. Eligible costs of VIGO Photonics S.A. are PLN 4,726,399.00, and the subsidy for the Company is PLN 3,073,960.75.

The main goal of the project is to develop a new family of sensors – detection modules with multi-element infrared detectors for optoelectronic systems used in “safe food” and “intelligent management systems” applications..

There are many potential applications of such sensors, most notably: systems for detecting residues of plant protection products and contaminants in food products,  food quality control, safety systems for transportation, electromagnetic radiation measurement systems for industrial applications, devices that increase safety, efficiency and precision of laser processing of materials, single and multipoint temperature measurement systems in various environments, for diagnostics, data acquisition sensor systems for the wear monitoring of machines and devices, including spacecraft and rockets.

The project covers industrial research, which include the design of epitaxial layers and detection structures for multi-element infrared detectors, the development of multi-element infrared detectors, the development of electronics for these detectors, as well as  development work including: optimization of epitaxial layers, detection structures and structures of multi-element infrared detectors, integration with electronics and optimization of modules with multi-element infrared detectors as the final product
